Closing Ceremony

Postpartum Closing Ceremony is rooted in cultures worldwide, our ceremony is following Traditional Mexican way, and is designed to provide closure, healing, and rejuvenation after childbirth. This transformative experience can be emotionally overwhelming for new mothers, and the ceremony serves as a sacred space to process and release any emotions or feelings that may have arisen during childbirth.

Birth is a profound journey that takes a toll on a woman's body and soul, the postpartum period is a time of immense transition and vulnerability. The ceremony offers an opportunity for closure, symbolically bringing the pelvis back into alignment, promoting the healing of the physical and emotional aspects of childbirth.

The power of this ceremony lies in its ability to reflect on the birth experience, allowing mothers to transition into motherhood with a renewed sense of strength and empowerment.

We create a safe and nurturing environment, allowing mothers to fully embrace the healing and rejuvenation that this sacred ceremony offers.

What happens during a Closing Ceremony?

During the Closing Ceremony, we create a sacred space for you, to debrief on your birth experience, while sipping ceremonial cacao. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, and we hold space for any emotions that may arise.

Once you feel ready, we move on to the bodywork. The session begins with a rebozo massage, starting from the head and working down to the feet. This massage technique helps release tensions, fears, and stored energy within the body, promoting a sense of relief and letting go.

You can to choose to have a womb massage or a full body massage using spirit-uplifting essential oils, before we proceed further.

The following two steps are optional too, but highly recommended: an immersion bath in healing herbs to warm you up and nurture your body. After the herbal bath, you'll lie down covered in blankets, leaving only your nose exposed to encourage sweating, which aids in purifying the body by releasing toxins.

Lastly, we will "close" you by cocooning your body with several rebozos from head to toe. This wrapping creates a feeling of deep relaxation, allowing you to drop into stillness and regain a sense of body integrity. The gentle compression from head to feet also provides a connection to the experience the baby had during birth.

You can decide how long you wish to stay in this wrapped state. Some prefer to listen to music, while others enjoy moments of quietness and stillness. You remain in control throughout the process, and when you are ready to be unwrapped, simply let us know.

To conclude the ceremony, we will share a cup of tea and provide you with the opportunity to express any further reflections or thoughts.

Plants used for the infusion bath:

These herbs have been used by Traditional Mexican Midwives and are considered "hot" in nature, intending to restore the warmth a woman may have lost during childbirth. Note that after this ritual, you may experience a little more bleeding and a more abundant milk supply. Staying well-hydrated in the following days will help prevent headaches.

Remember, it is never too late to receive a Closing ceremony, and it is not limited to women who have given birth. This ceremony serves as a Rite of Passage and can be performed to mark various life transitions, such as closing one chapter to open a new one, coping with a miscarriage, celebrating a wedding, navigating a career change, or processing the death of a loved one, among others.

This ceremony will last about 4 hours, investment is Β£200 and mileage fee of 0.45p per mile applies.
